I, Vijay D R, am a computer engineer by profession, hailing from Bangalore, the silicon valley of India. I come with 5 years of industry experience, working throughout for research and development divisions of the leading product development firms. I currently work with "National Instruments" for the Research and development of "Machine Vision" module, specifically Optical Character Recognition. I also work on Platform portability and Multicoring of Vision Algorithms on real time architectures.
Creativity and passion for Innovation are the keywords that describe my attitude. My propensity for Research and Innovation stems from my basic traits of being Curious, Inquisitive, Determined and Self motivated personality with a Never give up attitude. My research focus is in the converging areas of "Pervasive Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Human Computer Interaction". I envision the aim of building highly intelligent, cognitive systems which enable ubiquitous computing capabilities with minimal human interactions.
Prior to National Instruments, I was working with "NOKIA Research and Development" unit Bangalore as a Symbian OS system module developer for multimedia and web-runtime components. Working with Nokia had given me plethora of opportunities to work on novel ideas, redesign the architecture supporting Multicore Processors, Sensors, and GPU. During my tenure at NOKIA I pursued many hobby projects, Accelerometer Based Gesture Recognition, Speech Synthesizer, SMS Notifier, Location Based Services to name just a few.
Prior to Nokia, I was working for automotive giant "Robert Bosch - India" in embedded systems domain. At Bosch I worked for the development of ECU (Electronic Control Unit) data analysis tool called "Measured Data Analyzer" (MDA), which is primarily used to tune the engines for best performance by post processing the recorded data from an online calibration tool called "INCA". Over the last four years I have got an extensive exposure in the areas of HCI, Pervasive Computing, Mobility, Machine Vision, Automotive and Embedded domains significantly working on research projects.
I am a strong believer of the adage, Knowledge is Power. I posses an everlasting fervor for learning and innovation. Alongside my work and assignments, I constantly embark on online courses offered by Coursera, Udacity, edX and many other online education offerings. The courses which had taken in the past and currently pursuing include Machine Learning, Probability and Statistics, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Human Computer Interaction, Image and Video Processing, Artificial Intelligence , Data Analysis, Control of Mobile Robots, Algorithms Design and Analysis, General Game Playing, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, and Introduction to Mathematical Thinking, etc..
Besides these, I am a technical blogger. I blog about Innovations, technological advancements in Mobility, HCI, and Pervasive Computing domains, programming languages and development frameworks. My hobbies include playing cricket and listening to instrumental music.
